Cole’s 109th Anniversary, Turkey Flavored Ice Cream & other Tasty Tuesday News Bites

On Friday French Dip purveyors Cole’s celebrate their 109th year in business with a special gala. For one night only, Chefs Neal Fraser of Redbird and Christian Page of Cassell’s Hamburgers will collaborate on an unforgettable menu you won’t want to miss.

The Mar Vista Launches Weekly Specials & Saturday Brunch

The Mar Vista just launched three big specials. “Uni Thursdays” will present rotating dishes using Santa Barbara sea urchin like uni deviled eggs and uni pasta. “Spiny Lobster Fridays” will serve the local lobster in a variety of ways like a Lobster Dynamite and ravioli. Lastly, Mar Vista now offers “Brunch Saturdays” complete with live art, music, mimosas, and solid eats like their bacon & egg hot pot. The specials will all run till the end of the year.

Ray’s & Stark Bar just released new fall dishes by Executive Chef Fernando Darin. Highlights include comforting Pappardelle Lamb Ragu, Roasted Eggplant Vadouvan Risotto, Roasted Quail and Loup de Mer, a Mediterranean sea-bass.

Sunday Night Seafood Dinner at Lost at Sea

Lost at Sea located in the city of Pasadena just launched a Sunday Prix Fixe Dinner focused on seafood. The menu will feature classic and seasonal dishes for $35 a person from 5:30 p.m. to close every Sunday.

Salt & Straw’s New “Thanksgiving Dinner of Ice Cream” Series

Love Thanksgiving? Head to Salt & Straw for ice cream flavors like Salted Caramel Thanksgiving Turkey, Sweet Potato Casserole with Maple Pecans, Spiced Goat Cheese & Pumpkin Pie and Buttered Mashed Potatoes & Gravy. For every pint of Thanksgiving-inspired flavors purchased, the creamery will donate a pint to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

MUNCHIES will celebrate the launch of their new cookbook, MUNCHIES: Late-Night Meals from the World’s Best Chefs this Tuesday at The Ace Hotel. Guests will nosh on eats from Sqirl, Guisados, Guerilla Tacos, Amis, and My Two Cents. Tickets cost $55 and includes a copy of the cookbook.

Watch Doctor Who with your fellow Whovians this Tuesday night at Fox & Hounds. They’ll be showing the Eleventh Doctor episode “The God Complex” on every TV and two big projectors inside and outside. Drink special password is “TARDIS” and gets you $4 draft beer and $1 off wine and well drinks.

Friday November 10th, 2017

Cole’s 109th anniversary gala dinner prepared by chefs Neal Fraser of Redbird and Christian Page of Cassell’s Hamburgers. Tickets include French dips, roasts of lamb and salmon plus two cocktails from Cole’s and The Varnish. Entertainment includes live jazz music and the “World’s Largest Old Fashioned” featuring Penny Pound Ice. The cost is $70 per person.

Saturday November 11th, 2017

The Tropicália Music & Taco Festival happening at The Queen Mary is a one-day festival offering multiple music stages and unlimited taco samplings. Tickets start at $85 for general admission and go up to $150 for VIP.

Sunday November 12th, 2017

The L.A. Tofurky Trot returns to Griffith Park this Sunday with a family-friendly 5K run/walk followed by a delicious vegan food festival. Vendors include Ripple Foods, Taqueria La Venganza, Charlie’s Brownies, Pies by Domoníc and many more. All runners will also receive a swag-filled Tofurky tote bag.
