Doug Loves MoviesM > Doug Benson hosts a live edition of his the weekly comedy podcast Doug Loves Movies this Monday at Dynasty Typewriter. Benson welcome guests Lamorne Morris, Natalie Morales, Paul Scheer, and Rob Heubel to chat about movies and then play movie related games. Tickets are $25. Starts at 7:30 p.m. More info here.

Suds and Sounds in Culver City FA > FX’s new show Adults premieres on May 28, and the network is ramping up press with a special activation at the Laundry Room in Culver City this Tuesday. During the day (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) expect a comp card for one load of laundry (seriously!), coffee, snacks, one-card tarot readings, and DJ-spun tunes. The evening set (7 to 10 p.m.) features more tunes plus a cocktail vibe with low lights, a dance floor, and bar service. Both parts are free to attend, but you need to register in advance for the evening affair. More info here.

Celebrating TV Music with Composers of Disney+, Hulu, and FXM > On Wednesday, The GRAMMY Museum welcomes a panel of composers to Clive Davis Theater to talk shop and delve into their creative process. Participants include Michael Abels (The Acolyte), Christophe Beck and Michael Paraskevas (Agatha All Along), Brandon Roberts (Andor Season 2), Ariel Marx (Dying For Sex), and Marcelo Zarvos (Good American Family). Death CafeFA > Death Cafe returns to Heavy Manners Library in Echo Park this Wednesday, with a stated goal to “increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their finite lives.” It’s more discussion than support group, so go in with expectations set. Might be a good fit if you previously checked out the Silent Book Club of Death (another We Like L.A. recommendation). Donuts and coffee also provided! The event is free, but donations are welcomed. Sunset Exhibitions at The BroadFA > This Thursday, The Broad debuts their series of Sunset Exhibitions programming. For the debut iteration, you can get free access to see the new special exhibition Jeffrey Gibson: the space in which to place me along with a live intertribal dance and drum performance. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and is free attend, though an RSVP is required. If RSVPs are full, a limited number of walk-ups will be available if space allows. More info here.

AAPI Art Night MarketFA > The Compound in Long Beach celebrate AAPI heritage this Thursday with an Art Night Market curated by Baryo, featuring a showcase of work by Milliken High School alongside works by artist Olivia Sawai. There will also be a performance open mic, interactive storytelling, DJ’d tunes, and more. The event runs 5 to 9 p.m. and is free to attend. More info here.

Autry After Hours -> The Autry’s weekly evening pop-up returns this Thursday with a performance by old-time string band Smoke Holler. Plus, guests can explore the museum after-hours and try an exclusive cocktail featured in the book Cowboy Cocktails by Andre Darlington. Adult tickets start at $18. Runs 6 to 9 p.m. More info here.

WeHo PrideFA TP > WeHo Pride 2025 kicks off this Thursday by celebrating Harvey Milk Day with the 3rd annual José Julio Sarria Drag Pageant. Then this Friday to Sunday, Pride continues with the 2025 WeHo Pride Arts Festival, a three day celebration of theatre, poetry, and art hosted at the Los Angeles LGBT Center’s Village at Ed Gould Plaza. L.A. Fleet WeekFA > This year’s L.A. Fleet Week celebrates our nation’s sea services with a week of special performances and forums, an expo on the waterfront in San Pedro that includes live entertainment, ship tours, aerial demos, and more. 3rd Annual Long Beach BBQ Festival -> This Friday and Saturday, the 3rd Annual Long Beach BBQ Festival hosted by Axiom Kitchen and NoahS’s Arc Foundation will once again take place at ShoreLine Aquatic Park. There will be plenty of barbecue, live music from local bands and games. General admission cost $20 does not include food or beverages, VIP $150 and come with special lounge areas, exclusive food and beverage tastings, VIP lines, whiskey tastings. More info here.

Friday Movie Nights at Ovation HollywoodM FA > Ovation Hollywood’s monthly outdoor movie series is back for the summer starting this Friday. They’ll be screening Crazy Rich Asians in the courtyard, and just like lst year if you RSVP in advance you can receive a blanket and complimentary popcorn voucher from the TCL Chinese-6 Theatres (while supplies last). Check-in starts at 5 p.m., movie begins at 7 p.m. More info here.

SLS Takeover in Santa MonicaFA > This Friday, Street League Skateboarding takes over the Santa Monica Pier with with skating and street food mashup featuring a lineup of local foodie hotspots, including Villa’s Tacos, Heavy Handed, 10/10 Burgers, Prince Street Pizza, Miya Miya, Uncle Paulie’s, 27 Club Coffee, and Tacos 1986. Vendors will offer bites for purchase as skaters will compete live on a custom-built course right on the pier. The event is free to attend, but preferred paid seating is also available. Burger Nights at Yang’s Kitchen -> On the first and third Mondays of each month, Yang’s Kitchen in Alhambra hosts its popular Burger Nights, spotlighting a new rotating burger along with specials like oysters, fried chicken, and wine deals. This week’s feature: a Filet-O-Fish made with panko-crusted king fish, spicy remoulade, Hook’s aged white cheddar, and lettuce on a Pinecone Bakeshop sesame milk bun. Reservations are available on Yelp, walk-ins are welcomed. More info here.

Playa Provisions -> Tucked behind an unmarked door at the back of Brooke Williamson’s Playa Provisions in Playa del Rey, Grain is a cozy whiskey-focused speakeasy with over 350 selections, smart cocktails, and barrel-inspired decor. Now, it’s launching a new “Late Night” menu, available Wednesday through Sunday for one hour after the main kitchen closes. The Midnight Snacks lineup features craveable bites like a wagyu Pig in a Blanket wrapped in a homemade pretzel and rolled in everything seasoning, plus warm chocolate chip cookies served with bourbon milk. Nightcap options include a Mystery Old Fashioned (only the bartender knows the mix) and Youth Novels, a refreshing combo of gin, lychee, elderflower, and Bordiga Dry.

La Sorted’s Visitor Dog Series for Baseball Season -> La Sorted’s Pizzeria is leaning into baseball season with a cheeky new tradition: the Visitor Dog Series. Each week, they’re paying tribute to the visiting team playing the Dodgers with a special regional hot dog. From Monday to Wednesday, they’re welcoming the Arizona Diamondbacks with a nod to their hometown classic—the Sonora Dog. This one’s a bacon-wrapped hot dog tucked into a cheese-stuffed bolillo bun from Sonora Bakery, piled high with beans, grilled onions, grilled jalapeños, mustard, and mayo. Whether you’re Dodger blue or not, this one’s hard to pass up. More info here.
