Synth Club at Common SpaceFA > Every first Monday of the month, the LA Synth Club hosts a monthly meet-up and jam session at Common Space Brewery in Hawthorne. Musicians are invited to bring their favorite synthesizers, drum machines, or any other electronic instruments to experiment / jam with. Runs 6 to 10 p.m. More info here.

Seoul Festival at Walt Disney Concert HallM > On Tuesday, the Seoul Festival comes to Walt Disney Concert Hall for an 8-day series of curated concerts showcasing fast-rising Korean performing talent and distinct new voices. Tuesday’s festival opener festival kicks off with diverse and dynamic voices of Korean and Korean-born composers including two world premieres. Then on Friday, catch a night of Brahms performed by Sunwook Kim, preceded by world premieres from South Korea’s ever-expanding cohort of inventive composers. Concerts continue through June 10. First Wednesdays at AoP -> Every first Wednesday evening of the month, the Aquarium of the Pacific hosts a guest lecture and cocktail reception at the Pacific Visions Theater. For June 4, the session will feature the topic of on sunflower sea stars with a special presentation by Ashley Kidd, co-founder and the Conservation Project Manager at Sunflower Star Laboratory. Bear City ComedyFA > Every Wednesday, you can catch free comedy at Que Sera in Long Beach presented by Bear City, featuring a rotating lineup of up-and-comers from Netflix, Comedy Central, HBO, and beyond. This week’s lineup features Andrew Orolfo (James Corden, Don’t Tell Comedy), Mandal (Netflix, Don’t Tell Comedy), Kiki Andersen (Netflix Is A Joke), Matt Curry (Hollywood Improv), Kari Assad (Hollywood Improv), and Wyatt Cote (Punchline). Music in the Chinese Garden -> On Wednesday afternoons at The Huntington, enjoy enjoy traditional Chinese music in the Garden of Flowing Fragrance featuring a different solo musician performs each week. Concerts begin 1 p.m. and are included with admission to the garden, which starts at $29 for adults. More info here.

BET Experience ->  Starting this Thursday, the BET Experience returns with four days of music, culture, and community leading up to the 2025 BET Awards. Catch performances by Buju Banton, The Roots, Lil’ Kim, Redman & Method Man, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Raekwon, and more at iconic venues like the Hollywood Palladium, Hollywood Bowl, and YouTube Theater. More info here.

Free Thursday Evenings at The BroadM FA > On Thursday, The Broad’s is offering free evening access to the new specially ticketed exhibition Jeffrey Gibson: the space in which to place me (normally $15 admission). Slots must be RSVP’d in advance, and it also includes access to The Broad’s (always free) third floor galleries. Timed slots are limited, and run from 5 to 8 p.m. More info here.

Late Night at Skirball! Dirty DancingTP > This Friday, the Santa Monica Mountains transform into the Catskills for one night only as the Skirball Cultural Center presents Late Night! Dirty Dancing. This after-hours celebration spotlights the exhibition, Away in the Catskills: Summers, Sour Cream, and Dirty Dancing by Marisa J. Futernick—which features a series of fifteen prints capturing the pleasure and freedom that families like Futernick’s experienced in the Catskills. The evening event will include food trucks, dance lessons, shuffleboard courts, drag bingo, and late-night access to the Skirball exhibitions. GA tickets are $18. Get more info here.

NHM First FridaysM > Natural History Museum’s signature monthly series returns in June with an emphasis on experiencing sound they call AMPLIFIED. The Friday, the event features DJ sets in the nature garden, pop-up sound experiences throughout the museum, plus a discussion on music and the mind. First Fridays run 5 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $25. Santa Monica History Museum & Gabrielino-Tongva Springs FoundationFA > On Friday, the Santa Monica History Museum and the Gabrielino-Tongva Springs Foundation are teaming up for a free day of cultural exploration celebrating Indigenous heritage and the rich local history of the region, hosted at Kuruvungna Sacred Springs and Cultural Center. Frogtown First FridaysFA > Frogtown First Fridays return for a celebration of Pride month with special activations at a host of participating venues adjacent to the L.A. River Path. Friday Night Wine Tastings at Barnsdall ParkM > Friday night wine tasting events are back at the Barnsdall Art Park West Lawn starting June 6. Now in its 16th season tickets cost $45 and get you a flight of wines curated by Silverlake Wine, plus access to a rotation of food trucks, all supported by tunes from local DJs and sweet sunset views of the Hollywood Sign and Griffith Park Observatory. The series continues every Friday through September 26. All proceeds support programming within the Park. More than ever, this event will provide essential funding to help sustain Barnsdall Art Park amidst the City of Los Angeles’s newly proposed budget cuts, which put much of the site’s cultural programming at risk. Jazz at LACMAFA > The Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s annual Friday Night Jazz series is back starting in May, offering free weekly concerts at Smidt Welcome Plaza. The fun continues this Friday with a performance by the Jacques Lesure Organ Quartet. PLUS: Remember that LACMA is free to visit for L.A.
