January is a fine time to connect with art in Los Angeles. Not only does this month feature the annual LA Art Show, but there are a variety of showcases, fairs, and new and ongoing exhibitions that every art-lover ought to have on their radar.

1. 2017 LA Art Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center (Jan. 11-15)

3. The Night of Ideas at Bergamot Station (Jan. 26)

This modern-day salon will explore past, present & future utopias throughout the 32 art galleries within Bergamot Station.

4. Art Los Angeles Contemporary’s 8th Annual Art Fair at Barker Hangar (Jan. 26-29)

This Santa Monica art fair features galleries from around the world and incorporates talks, presentations & performances by various artists.

5. stARTup Art Fair at Highland Gardens Hotel in Hollywood (Jan. 27-29)

The stARTup Art Fair comes to the Highland Gardens Hotel in Hollywood January 27 through 29 with a unique selection of art made by 39 artists from all over the country.

6. MORE ART HERE: Open Studios at Santa Monica Art Studios (Jan. 27-29)

This free event will feature over 25 artists as they open their studios to the public & allow attendees to interact, speak with & watch the artists at work.

7. More Openings and ongoing exhibitions…

Hey! Ho! Let’s Go: Ramones and the Birth of Punk continues its exhibition at The GRAMMY Museum through Feb. 28.

The Unconventional Canvases of Keith Haring continues at The Petersen Automotive Museum through June 17. This is the first time all of the automobiles Haring painted will be on view at the same location.

Jan. 12’s Downtown Art Walk will feature a specially curated exhibition called “We The People” featuring local artist submissions that highlight present day societal and political challenges through a variety of mediums.

On Jan. 18 the Broad Stage presents A Conversation with California Art Icons, as part of a new ongoing series of talks. Art Critic Hunter Drohojowska-­‐Philp will moderate a panel that includes Larry Bell, Billy Al Bengston, Robert Irwin, Ed Moses, and Ed Ruscha.

On Jan. 27 the Forest Lawn Museum presents David Bowie: Among the Mexican Masters, an exhibition that highlights rare moments from the late musician’s only visit to Mexico City 20 years ago.
