Thank You Los Angeles: A Renewal of the Mission for We Like L.A.

Hi folks,

As you may have noticed, things look a little spruced up around here with the launch of a new WordPress theme for welikela.com. This whole process was definitely a few months in the making, but I’m just glad a) everything seems to be functioning without a hitch (so far, knock on wood) and b) the site now offers a much cleaner navigational experience (especially on mobile).

That said, even as we try to grow our community of readers, improve our site, and increase the overall volume of content, my personal hope is that we don’t lose sight on the really important stuff.

To me that’s focusing on three key things:

1. Explore the city each and every day (whether out and about or through vigorous online research).

2. Find the best of what’s happening (document things to do).

3. Distill what we learn to our community so they can create their own adventures (write content that informs and entertains).

That’s pretty much it! As long as we can stay focused on that specific mission, I think we’ll be ok, even as we continue to grow.

Again, if you’re new to the site, I heartily invite you to stay connected via our weekly newsletters (good way to find out what’s happening in the city) and if you’re looking to be a little more proactive in how you connect, then maybe you’ll like joining us at real life events via our meet-up group or participating in discussions on our secret Facebook group.

With any luck, there will be more exciting times to come as our blog continues to gain readers and interest. And with more feedback and interaction, I suspect the value of any resources we create can only get better over time (yay!). I would be the first to admit we are far from perfect in some of the stuff that we write, but I always feel like we’re on the path towards improvement.

Christina and I really do appreciate the community’s support and the fact that you’re willing to donate your attention to actually read what we put out. The truth is that without your eyeballs and pageviews, comments, criticisms, emails and shares, there’s no way we make it this far. For that, thank you.

We look forward to continuing this amazing journey of exploration through the City of Angels.

Cheers
