No, we don’t get snow during the winter here in Los Angeles, but we certainly know how to pack our calendar with cool things to do!
To that end we had our staff put their heads together to come up with more than a dozen unique events you can enjoy during this winter season in L.A.. In short, it’s a compilation of the best of what’s on our events calendar over the course of the next couple months.

1. LA County Holiday Show (Dec. 24)
The annual LA County Holiday fête returns to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at The Music Center in Downtown LA. This festive Christmas Eve afternoon event featuring a variety of multicultural musical acts is free and open to the public.
2. Celebrate New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles
New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles this year features dozens of cool options to choose from, including Grand Park’s annual public gathering, Prohibition NYE at Union Station, a Cleopatra’s Ball at The Egyptian, a ‘Minimal Effort’ NYE party at LA Center Studios, and LOTS more. 3. Lights on Display in Sherman Oaks (through Jan. 2)
One of the finest, most intricate, and most joyous holiday lights shows in Los Angeles takes place at a suburban home in Sherman Oaks. It’s called Lights on Display and it runs nightly (for free!) at 5 p.m. through Jan. 1.
4. 128th Tournament of Roses Parade (Jan. 2)
The Rose Parade’s ‘never on a Sunday’ tradition continues as the 2017 affair will take place on Monday, Jan. 2. Per usual, expect live performances, local celebrities, including the Queen of the Rose Parade, and of course some of the most amazing floats you’ll ever see!
5. Enchanted Forest of Light (through Jan. 8)
Enchanted: Forest of Light will offer visitors a colorful one-mile path route through 10 distinct light displays at unique points within Descanso Garden including the Oak Grove and the Japanese Garden. The forest runs through Jan. 8.
6. Indulge L.A.’s Chocolate Festival & Pastry Show at the Omni Hotel (Jan. 8)
The LA Chocolate Festival & Pastry Show comes to the Omni Hotel in DTLA on January 8th. Some of the best chocolatiers and pastry chefs in Los Angeles will offer confectionery treats to be paired with the world’s top champagnes, wines and spirits.
7. 2017 LA Art Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center (Jan. 11-15)
Feast your eyes on some amazing art collections from all over the world! The 2017 LA Art Show comes to the Los Angeles Convention Center from January 11th through January 15 for their annual civic celebration of the visual arts.
8. The 26th Annual Photo LA Fair at The REEF (Jan. 13)
In need of some visual inspiration? Look no further than Photo LA. Returning to The REEF/LA Mart for its 26th edition, this photographic exhibition celebrates photography and how it fits within the realm of fine art.
9. Anime Impulse at the Asian American Expo at the Fairplex (Jan. 15)
Fusing the world of anime & video games, Anime Impulse will include celebrity appearances, a maid cafe, artist alleys, Kawaii fashion & a cosplay masquerade competition!
10. 2017 Indie Beauty Expo Comes to Downtown LA (Jan. 17-19)
The Indie Beauty Expo is coming to DTLA’s California Market Center from January 17 through 19. This one-of-a-kind expo allows shoppers to discover the newest and freshest under-the-radar beauty brands. From cosmetics and skin needs to hair and nail care, a vast variety of brands will be represented.
11. Uncorked: L.A. Wine Festival at Union Station (Jan. 21)
Uncorked: L.A. comes to Union Station in DTLA on Jan. 21 for a truly legendary wine experience. With tastings of more than 150 wines, a champagne bar, and gourmet food trucks, why not indulge a little!
12. Art Los Angeles Contemporary’s 8th Annual Art Fair at Barker Hangar (Jan. 26-29)
This Santa Monica art fair features galleries from around the world and incorporates talks, presentations & performances by various artists.
13. The Inaugural Classic Auto Show Comes to the LA Convention Center (Jan. 27-29)
The three-day celebration of all things auto will showcase the best classic and vintage cars from all over the world. Highlights include a celebrity theater, car “catwalk,” classic car clubs, and an auto swap meet.
14. L.A. Beer & Food Festival at Mack Sennett Studios in Silver Lake (Jan. 28)
The L.A. Beer & Food Festival comes to historic Mack Sennett Studios in Silver Lake on Jan. 28 with a sampling of beers from more than 40 independently-owned brewers from around Los Angeles County. With unlimited tastings of more than 100 beers, and free snacks from some incredible local restaurants on the table.
15. The San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival (Jan. 28)
Ring in the year of the Fire Rooster at the 3rd annual San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival. On Saturday, Jan. 28 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., guests can visit San Gabriel’s historic Mission District for New Year celebrations including a street food fair and dance competition.
16. Night on Broadway (Jan. 28)
DTLA’s biggest block(s) party is back! Night on Broadway returns on Jan. 28, 2017 and is set to feature hundreds of performers and acts spread over seven city blocks, six historic venues, and eight separate stages. Last year the event drew an estimated 60,000 attendees.
17. Air + Style at Exposition Park (Feb. 18-19)
Air + Style returns to Exposition Park on Feb. 18-19 for two days of music and big air snowboarding competitions.
18. Los Angeles Travel & Adventure Show at the LA Convention Center (Feb. 18-19)

19. The 5th Annual LA Art Book Fair at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA
Come browse books, art catalogs, zines and more by local and national artists for over three and a half days. Admission is free and open to the public!
20. Tater Tots & Beer Festival at La Brea Tar Pits
Dreams do come true—assuming your dreams include beer and sumptuous potato dishes. The Tater Tots & Beer Festival comes to the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum on March 4th for the best sampling of domestic, imported, and crafted beers paired with mouth-watering tater tot creations.
