If you’re anything like me, the mere thought of biting into a warm soft centered freshly baked donut will make your mouth salivate and drool like Homer Simpson. I mean, let’s face it, who doesn’t love a good donut?
Donuts can be crafted in seemingly endless combinations whether it’s with ice cream, Nutella, or just your classic sugar glaze. And they’re pretty much everywhere you look in L.A., being served up at locations ranging from family owned restaurants to Portuguese bakeries to vegan friendly joints. The only question is, where would you find the best of the best?

That said, I’ve searched far and wide to compile a list of the best donut spots in Los Angeles. Initially I presented my editor with something like 50 different establishments that I was considering consider for addition to this list (I know, that’s ridiculous). Ultimately, he talked me down to just 17.
Hopefully you can use this list next time you are out in the city with friends, co-workers or family, and share with them some of the delectable donut creations that Los Angeles has to offer. Or maybe you’ll find one of these places to be a permanent part of your morning routine.

With options such as ice cream, nutella, chocolate glazed, fresh fruit, crushed Oreo cookies and more, this place will surely win a place in your heart. There are also their already made signature donuts, such as The Angry Samoa (like the girl scout cookies), how about a S’more inspired donut and many more that will blow your mind away.

Yes we’re talking about donuts, have you ever heard of a Cronut? Well a cronut is a croissant-doughnut pastry originally invented by Chef Dominique Ansel and, well, to sum it up it tastes just like heaven. If you haven’t tried a cronut just yet, this is a great spot to go and try all the varieties!

Think of being snobby when eating a donut that will not leave you feeling bloated. This probably makes you want to eat more than just one, but why wouldn’t you? By just trying a piece of their handmade donut, I am sure I could eat 20. Think of Orange Zest Pistachio, who comes up with flavors like these? Janeen Gudelj is a genius. Something that looks good tastes good and feels good, well that is an investment.

Kettle Glazed donuts is another one of those unforgettable places where you get hooked with just one bite of their donuts. From their S’more donut, blueberry lemon cake donut, and maple bacon cronut! And don’t forget, they also have a chocolate chip cruffin, which consist of a croissant and muffin! Definitely a must try!

This is the spot where you can find the best cake donuts! Donuts that are baked and not fried! There is Red Velvet, Strawberry Shortcake, Orange, Chocolate, Yellow Cake, Almond Joy and more! You will not be disappointed.

When you have that one friend that is vegan and can’t really go anywhere, well this is the place to go that everyone will love and that one friend could eat. It is free of Gluten, Wheat, Soy, Dairy/Casein, peanuts, treenuts, gums, transfats and preservatives! You might think it has no flavor, but there is no way to know that unless you try! I am sure it would leave you wanting more.

Located in the back of the Farmer’s market, you will find that this is the spot for your donut needs. Unlike Yum Yum and other donut brands, Bob’s coffee and doughnuts will only serve you the best, especially with their yummy toppings. From Honey wheat glazed to chocolate caramel Nut and Buttermilk glazed with mini M&Ms, they won’t leave you unsatisfied! And make sure to not forget to take a frosted dinosaur, which is one of Bob’s specialty.

Located right next to LAX, Randy’s donuts is undoubtedly an L.A. icon. Randy’s Donuts have been serving well-crafted donuts since 1953 and one of the best-priced donuts, if you are on a budget. Randy’s donuts have been featured in various movies you will most likely recognize like; Mars Attacks! Problem child 2, Iron Man 2, and many more. So if you find your way down here, make sure to capture the moment.

They will always welcome you with a heartwarming welcome. The Primo family has been and still is the owners of Primo’s Donuts. As written in the Baking Buyer Magazine, the Primo family’s decision to buy the shop changed their lives forever. Primo says the reason they are successful is for the fact that they use good ingredients and the donuts are always fresh and most definitely not to exclude Mrs. Primo’s smile.

“Donuts for Grown Ups” is just the slogan that makes me want to take a trip to this place. With their gourmet designs and flavor these donuts will blow your mind. From the Tres Tres Leches donuts and Mambo Italanio Cream, I am sure this won’t be the only time you make a stop. If you have some room left over, make sure to try their beignets Fried chicken and Mac and Cheese!

Also open 24 hours, so at any time of the day you can try LA’s first WOW-NUT! The Waffle Donut Hybrid, a perfect blend of a waffle and a donut. For those of you who want protein you must check out their Protizyme protein Donut Series made with protizyme protein from metabolic nutrition with many flavors to chose from you will not be missing out. I’m just mesmerized by the color of their Ube purple yam donuts. It could be just me or the owners, a Pastry Chef named Waylynn Lucas and a baker named Nancy Truman have some flavors that makes me want to drive down there and buy them all! Think of a chorizo cheddar donut! Blueberry earl grey, coconut passion fruit, rosemary olive oil and more! Some are gluten free or vegan, and for those of you who cannot find a spot where donuts can still be favorable, unfried and vegan friendly, this is the spot for you.
