5 Things You Gotta Have on Your Radar This Weekend (According to The Influencers of L.A.) 8-28-15

Sometimes when you’re figuring out what to do with your weekend, what you really need is just a little help from your friends.

To that end, we asked a few of our fellow L.A. bloggers, podcasters, and social media brethren to help us out with their top picks for this weekend, and then we combined those choices with one pick from both Christina and I.

The result is a quick list of some of the absolutely best stuff happening in Los Angeles over the next couple days.

Hope it helps you find something awesome to do.

Have a great weekend!

1. Craft Brews in Highland Park

Beer fan? Kristen Rae Lepore, social producer for KPCC, will be checking out Highland Park’s newest craft beer haven, Block Party, which has been eagerly anticipated for some time and is now finally open for business! If you go, make sure to play a fun game of shuffleboard on the patio.

2. Dude Bro Party Massacre 3

Picked by Jonathan Bilski, creator of Things to do in LA.

Jonathan says:

“Dude Bro Party Massacre 3 is the greatest horror comedy you’ve not seen and this weekend you can see it thrice is strange and wonderful ways. Starting with a showing with Patton Oswalt (cameo) and ending with a BBQ kegger. This raunchy horror comedy is not what you think it is. Your eyes will be bulging out not over scantily clad women, but men…. and not for sexy; for the ludicrous.”

3. DTLA First Sundays

Picked (and hosted) by Gerren Kelsaw, creator of the This Is The City Podcast.

“DTLA’s community party brunch is taking its good vibes, great music, and neighbor mingling to BORDER GRILL! They’re offering a fantastic brunch menu and bottomless mimosas. So if you’re coming to LA, or decided to rock the “staycation” for this three day weekend, join us!”

4. LA Times: The Taste

Picked by Christina Minh, co-founder of We Like L.A.

Christina says:

“LA Times: The Taste is without a doubt one of the year’s premier food events. Let me put it another way; if Jonathan Gold is helping to curate and host something food related, I’m there, no questions asked. See you at the opening tonight!”

5. A Hike to the L.A. River Bike Path with Ranger Ernie

Picked by Brian Champlin, co-founder of We Like L.A.

(That’s me, and yup, I’m going to quote myself, hah!)

“Ranger Ernie’s free hikes have become one of my most treasured L.A. experiences. Sadly (at least for us), Ernie will be retiring at the end of this month, and this Sunday’s hike is the penultimate edition of his long running Ranger-led hike series. I don’t know who will pick up the mantle to carry the free ranger hikes legacy after he’s gone, but I do now our community will have a massive void till fill upon his departure.”
