After some cool respite, it’s going to be hot again this weekend. Starting today, the County will open several Emergency Cooling Centers where those without A/C can get some relief. Cooling centers are free and follow current health guidelines, including social distancing and the use of face coverings.

Additionally, all residents are advised to stay out of the sun, avoid alcohol, reduce physical activity, wear light-colored clothing and a hat if outdoors, stay inside during peak hours, wear sunblock, check on those who are at high-risk including children and the elderly, and keep your pets inside. Of course, drink lots of water, but add low-sugar fruit juice or sports drinks if you plan to exercise or work outside as they can replenish the salt and minerals you lose when you sweat.
