In other updates, I checked out Spaghetti Sundays at Winsome in Echo Park (a beautiful spot by the way). Also, a Cuban restaurant in Silver Lake was just awarded “Best Cuban Sandwich in the world” and I’ve got more info below.

Does anyone else think Sunday suppers should be as popular as brunch? At Winsome it seems to be that way. Every Sunday Angelenos can enjoy a spaghetti dish, garlic bread, a seasonal salad and a scoop of ice cream made in house for just $20. Chef de Cuisine Joe Perez offers three different pasta combinations each Sunday, with the rotation including a spaghetti bolognese, a wild mushroom spaghetti with speck, and a few gluten-free options. Additionally there are drink specials from Campari and Peroni as well as a curated list of natural wines available during dinner service. I noticed a number of families and kids there last Sunday, making Winsome a smart choice for parents who want to wind down the weekend with a proper meal.

Resturants from all over the world competed in the contest and El Cochinito was selected to represent the entire West Coast. The process was strenuous with a lot of rules to abide by, but in the end the experts in slow-roasted lechon asado (roasted pork) took home a towering 1st place trophy and the ultimate bragging rights. Read all about it here. Then go get yourself an award winning and affordable (it’s only $9) Cubano.
