Every week in Los Angeles there are tons of great things to do (even before the weekend gets started) that we think you ought to have on your radar. With that in mind, we put together a list every Monday through Friday morning to keep you in the know about what’s happening in the city you love (or maybe just like).

Monday September 23rd, 2019
1. Hello Kitty Friends Around the World Tour celebrates Hello Kitty’s 45-year anniversary with a multi-room, sensory-rich, brilliant walk-through adventure from September 20 through October 20. The 10,000-square-foot pop-up takes you aboard ‘Hello Kitty Air’ to virtually visit London, Paris, New York, Honolulu, and Tokyo.
2. The Taste of Arcadia brings over 40 vendors to the Los Angeles Arboretum.
3. Immerse yourself in six days of French film, documentaries, and TV shows when the COLCOA French Film Festival takes over the Directors Guild of America (DGA) in Hollywood from September 23-28.
4. Seven Grand in Downtown Los Angeles will host a taste through six spirits from House of Suntory Whisky.
5. The Culver Hotel will hold an Acoustic Sound Healing experience with sound healer Roxie Sarhangi. The event will conclude with refreshments and light hors d’oeuvres.
6. It’s Monday Night Trivia at Imperial Western located inside Union Station.
Tuesday September 24th, 2019
7. Stop by the colorful, winding installation The Second Home Serpentine Pavilion at the La Brea Tar Pits for an evening exploring L.A.’s relationship with the natural world. There will be special guests speakers curated by LA’s first Chief Design Officer, Christopher Hawthorne. FREE
8. IGNITE @ the FORD! and HBO join together to bring you Hollywood Shorts, a monthly screening program highlighting award-winning short films and animation, all outdoors in the beautiful Ford Theatres. Attendees get free popcorn and there will be a brief Q&A with the filmmakers.
9. UNIDENTIFIED LANDED OBJECT (“ULO”) opens at ROW DTLA for an otherworldly experience where an adaptation of the installation Light Leaks by technology artist Kyle McDonald and Jonas Jongejan, Creative Technologist at Google Creative Lab can be experienced. Visitors will be pulled into an optical illusion of millions of flickering reflections that dance off of mirror balls hitting every inch of the space. ULO will run Tuesdays through Sunday until September 28.
10. Tim Burton dazzled us with “The Nightmare Before Christmas” 26 years ago and from September 12 through 25 The El Capitan in Hollywood will screen the beloved movie in 3D with interactive 4D sensory effects. Check for discount tickets before making your purchase. DISCOUNTED (via Goldstar)

13. On Wednesday Friends of the LA River (FoLAR) will lead folks on a walk and search for bats that live on the LA River. Afterwards, the party winds down at Frogtown Brewery where you can discuss the findings of the expedition with fellow bat fans. FREE
14. Twilight Concerts returns every Wednesday from August 21 to September 25 for free music performances on the Santa Monica Pier. This week Cornelius, StarRo & Taiko Project will perform. FREE
15. Black Movie Soundtrack lll returns to The Hollywood Bowl for a stellar evening of music and movies. Grammy-winning musical director Marcus Miller will run the show, and comedian Craig Robinson will play host with a cast of top talent joined by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
16. Artist Maximillian’s popular horror-themed pop-up I Like Scary Movies returns for Halloween season September 20 through November 17. The detailed and beautiful series of installations is a love letter from the artist to iconic horror films like The Lost Boys, Beetlejuice, and The Shining. Runs Wednesday through Sundays. 17. Beyond Fest, Los Angeles’ strangest, scariest, and largest genre film festival returns Sep. 25 to Oct. 8 with another year of bold programming.

19. The Queen Mary’s Dark Habor returns with six terrifying mazes, including the brand new Rogue, in which the crew either is (or isn’t?) working to save the capsized vessel you’re trapped aboard. Nightly entertainment, rides, roaming monsters, and themed lounges round out Dark Harbor’s offerings. Happening September 26 through November 2. 20. Kick off 2019 L.A. Fashion Week at The Bloc shopping center in Downtown. There will be a host of activities, beauty services, panels from Los Angeles’ top fashion and beauty influencers and more.
21. Head to Two Bit Circus for Whispers In The Dark an interactive mystery using magic, mentalism, and immersive theater. You’ll sit in on an intimate séance to communicate with ghosts to unlock secrets and solve the crime of a centuries-old unsolved murder.
22. The eighth annual Sunset & Dine food festival will feature tastings from local restaurants plus beer and wine. Entertainment will be curated by Amoeba Music.
23. Creep L.A. presents the fifth installment of HAUS OF CREEP an immersive 75-minute experience that takes guests in a bizarre world where reality and performance art blur in a very dark way. HAUS OF CREEP will run from September 13 through November 3 on all weekends with some weeknights available.
24. Pop-Up Magazine’s fall show The Escape Issue is a live-magazine created for stage and screen performed in-front of a live-audience and it takes over the Theatre at the Ace Hotel this Thursday.
25. Head to the Getty Villa for an outdoor performance of The Heal in the Barbara and Lawrence Fleischman Theater. Sit in the stunning venue modeled after ancient Greek and Roman theaters and enjoy a new version of Sophocles’ timeless tale. The show runs every Thursday through Saturday from September 6-28. 31. The Los Angeles Zoo’s annual after-hours music series, Roaring Nights, is back for summer 2019. 32. The third annual Van Nuys Arts Festival showcases the artistic talents and skills of local residents. This years theme is “The Glow Up” and the Van Nuys Civic Center will be transformed into an outdoor virtual forest with interactive art installations, live music, a 3-D maze and more. FREE
33. Night Dive at the Aquarium of the Pacific is an 18+ party inside the aquarium featuring DJs, food trucks, cocktails and art alongside sea life.

35. Latigo x Outdoor Voices will host a Trail Run & Coffee Meet-Up at Will Rogers State Historic Park this Friday. Your morning starts at 6:30 a.m. with a 5-6 miles followed by some delicious Latigo Coffee. FREE
36. Don’t Tell Comedy pops up in DTLA at a secret location with some of the biggest names in comedy. Performers are kept under wraps and the location will be emailed to all ticket holders. BYOB!
37. Want to celebrate Halloween early? Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights has been spooking crowds for over 25 years, the park employs the industry’s best special effects to bring pop cultures most famous movies and shows to life. Mazes include Stranger Things, Walking Dead and the new Ghostbusters experience.
38. On the last Friday of each month the California Market Center hosts a public sample sale with hundreds of showrooms offering men, women and children fashion as well as gift and home items at below-retail prices.

39. The Greens at the Rose Bowl (the grounds surrounding the stadium) hosts Final Fridays a family friendly event happening on the last Friday (4-8 p.m.) of every month where food trucks, life-size games, stadium tours and so more are offered.
40. Enjoy an evening of music when Jazz at LACMA returns for their weekly free performances in the courtyard from 6 to 8 p.m. FREE
41. Knott’s Scary Farm is back with their signature haunted attractions, mazes and thousands of monsters ready to scare the living day light out of you and your crew.
42. Cooper Design Space hosts Last Friday Sales a rare opportunity where showrooms open their doors to the public offering discounts on past seasons, samples and overstock. Keep in-mind showrooms are usually cash only.
Food Pick for the Week

Found Oyster pops up at Echo Park’s Konbi on September 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (or until it sells out). Found Oyster chef/partner Ari Kolender will be serving the forthcoming restaurant’s take on the classic lobster roll, made with bisque sauce and serrano chili. Konbi was recently named Bon Appétit Magazine’s best new restaurant of 2019 and Found Oyster is one of the most anticipated openings in Los Angeles. The pop-up will likely produce along line so I’d advise to go early if you want to get a taste of this one-day collaboration.
